Music should make you feel more in tune with your emotions and less alone in this chaotic world. Sean Martin West strives to achieve this with vivid, lyric driven music. The Portland, OR based singer, songwriter, and producer graduated from Berklee College of Music where he was immersed in a tradition of focused music analysis. With influences deep and varied, he blends genres to create something new, yet familiar.

         In 2023, West released a series of 6 self produced singles, each with its own sound and purpose. This series started as a covid lockdown project and turned into years of perfectionistic crafting. The resulting music has rich layers of sounds, and a wide variety of genres including Folk, Blues, Country, Singer Songwriter, and Indie. West’s latest single “Keepsake" is a vulnerable song reflecting on the cyclical nature of caring for someone with depression.

         In the last year, West has recorded his debut album as well as an accompanying EP. The project put a heavy emphasis on live performance, with the entire band tracking in the same room. West chose to record to analog tape, more for the workflow than the sound. The limitations of the format required quick decision making, and significantly less editing than previous releases. The recordings have productive imperfections that make the listener feel like they’re standing in the front row at a concert. West plans to release this project in the fall.
